Persuasive Essay: Who should be on our next U.S. stamp?
Each year the U.S. Postal Service issues new stamps. In addition to flora and fauna, Americans who have made lasting contributions are honored. For this project you will:
have the opportunity to learn about the contributions of a famous African-American
use databases to gather information about your person
complete a source card for each source used
write a persuasive essay explaining why he/she should be commemorated on a stamp
design a stamp that represents your person and his/her contributions
After you have written your essay and designed your stamp, the stamps will be uploaded to Voicethread and then you will record your "pitch" to persuade us that your person would be winning stamp. Use the links below to find information about your person:
